Design & Wine | Spring Inspiration

Hey there! If you are new to reading Home with Booz, thank you for being here. If you have visited this blog before, thank you for coming back to learn with me ways we can make our lives less complicated and more fulfilled.

Spring is in the air and I am here for it! One of the things I love about living in the midwest is the experience of all four seasons. Each one brings something different and special to our lives, providing us with time to transition and embrace what the new season has to offer us. Today I plan to share some of my favorites for spring inspiration and what I am loving right now.

Spring Decor

I shared in this post Easy Home Decor Ideas for Spring and how I keep our home pretty simple with only a few pieces added to the entry way to celebrate the season. I love this time of year when flowers start to bloom and there is an anticipation in the air of more time being outside enjoying our outdoor spaces. As part of our landscaping in the front of the house, we planted a few lilac bushes and they are in full bloom. The smell is delightful and the blooms bring me such happiness when I pull into our driveway. I am looking forward to sharing a few of these fresh cut flowers with our family this weekend and plan to bring a few inside for us to enjoy as well!

Refreshed Spaces

Now that the days are getting longer and the temps are warmer, I like to refresh spaces around our home to reflect the changes in the seasons. I tucked away our cozy winter favorites we have set out in our living room and replaced them with lighter throws and crisp white pillow covers for the warmer months. This easy refresh of the throw pillows and blankets gives me a simple way to transition from our cozy winter vibe to a refreshing, bright look for the spring and summer months.

Organizing Favorites

There is something about the spring and anticipation of warmer days that inspires me to do an annual sweep through our home to organize our spaces. This year, I spent time in the kitchen making some changes to improve our efficiency and purge or donate items no longer used. I am loving these baskets and these trays right now and have found both items to be very versatile to meet quite a few needs around our home, read more here. My favorite update this year is finally moving over our spices from an upper cabinet to a spice drawer in our kitchen island. These minimalist pantry labels and spice drawer organizer have been a game changer while I prep food in the kitchen, making it easier for me to see what I have and access spices when I need them.

Spring Outdoor Planning

Last weekend we had a family work project which included power washing our back patio and upper deck. Between the wind we’ve had lately in the midwest and all the pollen flying around, our deck furniture needed a good cleaning. I’ve been eyeing this planter to place under our deck to help create a walkway off the deck steps. I decided before making this purchase, I should utilize a few of the pots I have to make sure the herbs will do well in this location and to confirm I like the idea of creating a border for this space. I have a few other ideas planned for this space over the summer and will share more of this soon!

Personal Growth

This spring I purchased a few different books to read for personal growth and Mel Robbins The Let Them Theory book is one of my favorites. This is now on my nightstand as a visual cue every day to let them and most importantly, let me. If you’ve read the book, you understand. I tell everyone I know about the this book and reference it often in discussions as well as apply it in my daily life. This book has the potential to change your life. Get it, read it and share it with others! Your future self will thank you.

Wine Time

As a general rule, red wines are my go to when it’s wine time. However, in the spring I start to mix in more white wines. There is something about the crisp, refreshing taste of a good white wine on the back deck that captures the feeling of spring. I am excited for the warmer days ahead and more time outside enjoying the spring weather with friends and family.

This post pairs well with a Seghesio Chardonnay which is a nice light, refreshing wine perfect for Spring! If you found this post useful, please consider sharing it on Pinterest with others! Cheers!
