Winter White Holiday Decorations | Minimalist Style

Each year I love the ritual of pulling out the holiday bins and thinking through a plan for how I want to decorate each space. This year I decided I wanted to lean into the winter white theme. As a self proclaimed minimalist, I keep my decorations to a few key spaces around the house allowing for an ease on both my budget and time to curate a festive vibe. Today I am highlighting the three main areas I focus on for a seasonal decor and will share some of my favorite items to create a winter white holiday, minimalist style!

Entryway

The entryway welcomes your guests as they come into your home and can set the stage for the style and design throughout the rest of the house. The entryway is my favorite place to add seasonal changes to our home. I’ve had this console table for years and love seeing how the look shifts throughout the year.

Decorative Objects

I keep the decorations simple in the entryway and stick to a formula of a few decorative objects and faux stems. I have these two coffee table book, coffee table book out all year and change the objects sitting on top based on the season. This year I paired two ceramic trees, sizes small (similar) and large (similar) next to a ceramic house (similar) Our ceramic house is a special gift from the Netherlands and I have it out all year.

Faux Stems

I love having real plants throughout the house but during the holidays, I lean into the faux stems. Norfolk pine is my favorite for garland and faux stems. This faux greenery is easy to shape, gives a realistic look and has a nice depth of green tones in each stem for visual interest. I’ve had this cypress door swag for years and like it best on the mirror to give some height to the entryway with a seasonal touch.

Classic Vases

A vase is a versatile decor item and a must have in my opinion for any space. I buy most of my vases from Crate&Barrel because I like their quality, design and attention to detail with each piece. This slope white ceramic vase adds visual interest with the slight slope and can easily stand alone on a table or countertop with faux stems making a classic centerpiece in any room.

Living Room

This time of year I gravitate to spending more time in our main floor living room. The lights on the twinkle trees with the fireplace on and me snuggled up with a cozy blanket, is my happy place. A few simple touches to add in the festive look of the holiday season and I could hang out here all day embracing the magic of Christmas.

This year I found these adorable white ceramic house reed diffusers at Crate&Barrel. Rather than the traditional balsam scent, this diffuser comes with a modern twist and includes a balsam and peppermint oil. I like how the style of this diffuser can be used throughout the year, switching out scents as the season or your mood changes.

Small Details

I like a cohesive look throughout our home, even during the holiday season. These cutout snowflake ornaments are a new addition to our Christmas tree this year and adding one to the mantle helped to carry this theme to the main living room. Small details make a difference and I try to be intentional to have design flow in the different spaces.

Stockings

This year I have been crushing on the faux fur blankets and pillows to create a winter white look in our main living room. I was so pleased when I saw the ivory faux fur stockings at Target as it completed my vision for updating our mantle this year. These stockings are so soft and the price point makes it easy to do a simple refresh with our stockings.

Basement Living Space

There is a special magic for me each year when the tree is up and decorated at the start of the season. We have a 12ft tree and put our tree up in the basement living space due it’s massive size! I use a white throw blanket at the base instead of a traditional basket or tree collar. I like how the blanket softens the base and gives flexibility each year for changing up the look with a low cost refresh.

Holiday Decor on the Christmas Tree

Snowflakes

These cutout snowflake ornaments, and lace snowflake ornaments, make a big statement on the Christmas tree. I added these in this year after our daughter told me “all the ornaments are balls!” I love how they fill the space and provide a different shape to give contrast to the traditional ball ornaments. These come in two styles and have a discreet magnetic clasp to hold the shape.

Sentimental Faves

Our Christmas tree is filled with a mix of collected ornaments over the years along with the store bought neutrals to create a curated look. The sentimental ornaments are my favorites and these sweet white baby shoes for our daughter’s first Christmas holds a special place in my heart. I still remember the special feeling of sharing our first Christmas together as a family of three. Memories!

Porcelain Balls

You can’t go wrong with a traditional porcelain snowflake ornament. I picked these up last year during the sales after Christmas and I am so glad! I love the look of a traditional ball ornament with subtle texture to add visual interest in a classic style. I included the link for this year’s ornaments which are similar and can be bought as a set of four or as individual ornaments.

Final Thoughts

Each year the holiday season seems to go by so quickly and the special time with family and friends comes to an end. I love the energy of this season, the quiet moments we have at home to hang out and celebrate all we are thankful for in our lives. Decorating for the holidays and curating cozy spaces for our loved ones to gather is part of what makes this season so special. Life is short – put the tree up early, drink the wine and enjoy the season.

If you have found this blog, thanks for being here. I am wishing all of you a happy holiday!

Cheers!
